Volunteer Recognition

Volunteers are integral to our mission of leading the fight to end hunger in our communities. Our community of 5,600+ volunteers served about 110,000 hours last year. Without our fantastic volunteers, we could not serve the community we hold so dear. It is an honor to recognize their service.

Food Bank Support Offered

The Food Bank recognizes its volunteers annually in April during National Volunteer Month. Some of the ways the Food Bank recognizes its volunteers:

All active volunteers receive a thank you.
Volunteer milestones from the previous calendar year are recognized at:
- 20+ hours
- 50+ hours
- 100+ hours
Regular volunteer groups are recognized through their team leader.
Specially trained volunteers are recognized for their contributions to Food Bank programs.

The Food Bank can provide service hour verification for volunteers who apply for service awards, such as:

Please note that the President’s Volunteer Service Award is on a temporary pause, as decided by AmeriCorps effective May 27, 2025. At this time, orders for awards and applications to become a Certifying Organization are not being accepted. If there are any questions, please review their FAQs or reach out to PVSA@americorps.gov directly. Thank you.

The Food Bank will consider hours verification for other service awards upon request.

Food Bank Requirements

It is the volunteer’s responsibility to apply for the award.
It is the volunteer’s responsibility to meet the requirements of the award they are applying for.
The Food Bank can only verify the service of volunteers who have registered Food Bank volunteer accounts.
The Food Bank can only verify service hours completed during Food Bank volunteer shifts. The Food Bank cannot verify hours for third-party events such as food drives or fundraisers, even if the events benefit the Food Bank.
The Food Bank cannot verify service hours completed through another organization.
The Food Bank can only verify service hours of volunteers who abide by the Food Bank’s Volunteer Waiver, Policies, and Safety Rules and are in good standing with the Food Bank.
