CalFresh ABAWD Volunteer Hours

The Food Bank welcomes those seeking volunteer hours to fulfill the requirements of their CalFresh ABAWD status.

There are new time limits for certain CalFresh recipients in Contra Costa County.

Beginning September 1, 2019, Contra Costa residents who are considered to have Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) status will only be able to receive three months of CalFresh benefits unless they comply with specific work requirements or meet an exemption. To help find out if you meet the ABAWD criteria, or have an exemption, visit www.foodbankccs.org/ABAWD. One way to meet the new work requirement is to volunteer with a nonprofit organization like the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

In order to request volunteer hours to fulfill the requirements of your CalFresh ABAWD status, please read the Food Bank’s policy and submit the online application.
