Presidential Service Award Requests Policy
The Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano is honored to support our dedicated hunger fighters who apply for the Presidential Service Award. Our Food Bank would not be able to function without our volunteers, and last year, we hosted over 7,000 volunteers who served 100,000 hours! Our volunteers are critical in supporting our mission of fighting to end hunger.
Food Bank Support Offered
The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano can submit the request for annual awards:
- Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates with a pin and a congratulatory letter from the president.
- The Food Bank will cover the expense of the award and the cost to ship it to our warehouse.
Food Bank Requirements
- The applicant must meet the requirements set forth by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. You can review the eligibility requirements by visiting https://presidentialserviceawards.gov/eligibility#volunteers.
- The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano asks that volunteers complete 50% plus one hour of their service request with the Food Bank within a 12 month period.
- If you have completed service hours with another community organization(s), the Food Bank will need you to provide verification of those hours. Verification will need to be submitted on the organization(s) letterhead and include the number of hours served, the dates of service and hours served on those dates, and a staff member’s signature and contact information in order for the Food Bank to submit your hours for the Presidential Service Award.
Accepting the Award
- Once the Food Bank receives the award, we will contact you. We ask that you arrange to pick up the award from either our Concord warehouse or our Fairfield Warehouse.
- When you pick up the award, the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano asks that you consider completing our Media Request Form. We like to highlight our volunteers and may ask for you to share pictures or quotes of your volunteer experience with us.
