Philanthropy Support Volunteer Program 2024
Volunteers are needed for the Philanthropy Support Volunteer Program in our Concord and Fairfield offices.
The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is seeking volunteers for the Philanthropy Support Volunteer Program which will support key cultivation and stewardship of Food Bank donors with support from our Donor Support Team. The Philanthropy Support Volunteer Program will help with thanking donors, supporting event preparation, assisting with fundraising efforts, and providing administrative support.
We are seeking current and new volunteers who meet the required qualifications listed below and can commit for one year, volunteering for a minimum of two shifts per month. If you want to apply your administrative and creative skills to assist our efforts to engage with current and future supporters of the organization, we’d love to speak with you!
Philanthropy Support Volunteer Program Commitment:
- Ability to commit to supporting the Philanthropy Support Volunteer Program for one full year (March 2024-February 2025)
- Attend a mandatory Philanthropy Support Volunteer Program Orientation & Training (TBD March)
- Respond to communications around upcoming activities and events
- Ability to communicate via phone and email to prepare for community activities and events
- Commit to reviewing emails regarding quarterly communication updates
- Attend a minimum of two Philanthropy Support Volunteer Program activities per month for one year
- Agree to show up on time and stay the entire duration of the assigned activity or event, and reach out to the Donor Relations Team if you need to leave or cannot make it
- Provide feedback from Program activities
Volunteer Functions and Responsibilities:
- Call donors to them thank for their recent donations; document calls
- Call donors to ask them to participate in fundraising initiatives; document calls
- Completes handwritten notes of appreciation for donors
- Assists with pre and post-event and/or fundraiser needs including promoting the event, in-kind donation solicitation, and providing event details to guests
- Assist with advocacy efforts during Hunger Action Month (in September)
- Preparation of mailings and other administrative duties
- Additional tasks as needed
Volunteer Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Passionate about the Food Bank’s Mission to lead the fight to end hunger
- Ability to use an email account and to create an online Food Bank volunteer account
- Basic administrative and customer service skills
- Team player who is willing to handle different tasks each shift depending on internal needs
- Handwritten note-taking and data-entry skills are a plus
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in customer service or a related field is preferred
- Ability to sit at a desk for three hours if needed.
- Ability to walk throughout the office and access the development department on the second floor in Concord
- Willingness to work outside and/or deliver posters and flyers if needed
- Ability to make at least a 1-year commitment
- Adhere to Volunteer Waiver, Policies, Safety Rules, Agreements, and Code of Conduct
