Agency Distribution Volunteer 2026

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is looking for volunteers to provide support at the Antioch Agency Distribution location (3015 Rio Grande Dr.). The Agency Distribution is a distribution held for our community partner organizations. These partner organizations come to the distribution site each week to pick up orders placed through our warehouse, as well as donated food offered.
Agency Distribution Volunteers will assist community partners in loading donated foods onto carts and/or into their vehicles, working with Food Bank staff to ensure the correct allocation of food is given to each organization according to the Remote Services Coordinator's instructions. Volunteers will also help with post-distribution site cleanup.
Are you interested in using your organizational and interpersonal skills to support the work of your local Food Bank? We are looking for volunteers who can make a one- year commitment to participate in the Agency Distributions for two hours per week.

Volunteer Job Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Help distribute donated foods according to allocations established by the Remote Service Administrator. 
  • Interact with community partner organizations and their volunteers. 
  • Assist in loading food onto partner carts and or vehicles. 
  • Break down any boxes and sweep after the distribution.

Volunteer Qualifications: 

  • Interest in the mission of the Food Bank. 
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Customer service skills. 
  • Ability to bend and stand for two hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in a team (with agency partner or Food Bank staff) throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Comfortable interacting with diverse individuals. Sensitive to the needs of others. 
  • Flexible and reliable. 
  • Ability to make at least a one- year commitment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round, in all weather conditions. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required. 
  • Adhere to Volunteer Waiver, Policies, Safety Rules, Agreements, and Code of Conduct
