Auction Solicitation Volunteer Committee 2026
Volunteers are needed for the new Auction Solicitation Volunteer Committee in our Concord office.
The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is seeking volunteers for the Auction Solicitation Volunteer Committee which will support with securing donations for our Annual Nourish Gala Event, working directly with our Events Team. As an Auction Solicitation Volunteer Committee member, you will leverage your networks and communication skills to identify, contact, and secure auction items that will maximize revenue for our hunger-relief programs.
We are seeking current and new volunteers, three to five people, who meet the required qualifications listed below and can commit to supporting the committee from January-May 2026. Our Annual Nourish Gala Event is May 16, 2026.
Auction Solicitation Volunteer Committee Commitment:
- Ability to commit to supporting the Food Bank Events Team (January-May 2026)
- Attend a mandatory Auction Solicitation Volunteer Committee Training and Orientation (TBD end of January)
- Commit to 3-5 hours/week: monthly committee meetings (1-2 hrs/month) + individual solicitation outreach (2-4 hrs/week, flexible schedule) + email follow-up (as needed)
- Ability to work in our Concord Office (4010 Nelson Drive) during business hours; Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
- Ability to communicate via phone, virtual meeting platforms, and email to prepare for Committee activities and events
- Provide feedback from Committee activities
Volunteer Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Identify and research potential donors (restaurants, wineries, hotels, retailers, service providers)
- Make outreach calls and emails using provided templates and talking points
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses and community partners
- Clearly communicate the Food Bank's mission and the impact of their donation
- Track solicitation efforts, donor responses, and secured donations using Excel spreadsheets/databases
- Collect donation forms, coordinate item pickup/delivery, and create auction packages
Volunteer Qualifications:
- Genuine interest in the Food Bank's mission to fight hunger in Contra Costa and Solano counties
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfort making phone calls to business contacts
- Professional and friendly demeanor when representing the Food Bank
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to track multiple solicitation efforts simultaneously
- Basic proficiency in email, Microsoft Word, and Excel or Google Sheets
- Ability to work independently while staying connected with the team
- Flexibility to attend both in-person (Concord area) and virtual meetings
- Preferred: Fundraising/sales experience, local business connections, auction/gala planning experience, bilingual (Spanish a plus)
